I think I get it...
Okay... I spent the morning reading through some posts from several friends and a few total strangers. It was enlightening. I keep thinking that I have to have something to respond to or something that's terribly important to say before I write anything on my blog (Well, at least something that's terribly important to ME at the moment.) It's so much easier for me to respond to what another person says than it is for me to initiate conversation.
What I began to see was that for the most part the blogs I read were filled with random and quirky thoughts, some little oddity that popped up during the day, a short report on a recent activity, or a favorite memory. Most were thoughts that struck as they were driving down the street, looking out a window, watching their children/grandchildren, and otherwise making their way through their day. It was casual and entertaining. There were some thought provoking articles to be sure, but for the most part, they were more like a phone call from a pal. I felt invited into peoples back yards, on a couple of family vacations, on a walk through the woods, and into a few lives.
It was a nice way to spend some of my morning. Thanks to you all. And, I think that maybe, just maybe, I'm beginning to understand more what this "blogging" thing is all about. I'm going to try to write more consistantly and join in the good times.
